A Rare George III Hallmarked Sterling Silver Lidded Tankard by William Bateman. The Tankard is 8 1/4" in height 7" handle to rim 5" in diameter to the base and 4" diameter to the top rim. The Tankard has a weight of 23.7 oz 672 grams.
The Tankard has an excellent shape sitting on a raised skirted base with slight tapering sides with a central banded rib with an excellent "C" shaped handle with a heart shaped tail with the hinged lid having a domed centre with a pierced thumb piece (see photo's). The Tankard is in Excellent Condition (see photo's). Lion Passant - Sterling Mark. Town Mark - Leopards Head Crowned - London. Date Letter - U - 1815.
