SUPER RARE "Transitional dial" with seconds at three and 5 pieces swing case! RUNS - but service history unknown. Could be used either in a KW or Stem Wind Case.
Either Stem Winding or Key Winding; lever set. Model 2, serial 128453, made around 1881.
Watch runs good for at least 24 hours, movement seems dirty, needs a service. Made by Fahy's, model No.1, Coin silver, serial F9236 Very rare "swing out case" in 5 parts, similar to mich older pair case but with an hinge! Has tiny scratches & original patina. Measures about 57.7 mm wide, by 75 mm tall, including crown, by 21 mm thick. (Roughly 2¼" wide by 3" tall by 7/8 thick).
This is an used thick beveled crystal, correct for the era. A few surface scratches but very acceptable.
VERY RARE "seconds at three" dial. Never seen it before from Rockford. Marked "Rockford Watch Co Illinois" Old fashion type, with pins on the three dial feet (not dial screws) 45.2 mm diameter, single sunk. A few hairlines & some edge chips. Please scroll down for additional pictures.
